Thursday saw the girls football team meet with Lent Rise and this was the first match for a lot of the girls.
After a hot, nervous wait for the opposition to arrive, the game was underway and with Captain Maisie winning the first kick off, Cippenham were on the attack. Both sides started strong but Maisie and Ariana managed to break Lent Rise’s defence and both scored. Lent Rise continued to push on and attacked Cippenham's half and snuck the ball into the net taking the score 2-1 at half time.
With the sun pounding down and numerous substitutions for water breaks, the girls dug deep and showed an amazing display of teamwork in the second half. Casey was the first to ink the score sheet after the break and crossed a superb pass into the goal mouth and into the path of Poppy who smashed it into the back of the net. A shot from Maisie was deflected by Lent Rise’s defence and an own goal took the score to 5-1. Faatimah put her all into today’s game and was rewarded with Cippenham's final goal and what a magnificent goal it was. She took control of the ball just outside the box and with a huge kick, it bounced straight over the keeper into the net! Final score 6-1 to Cippenham Primary School.
Casey was named player of the match by the opposition but all girls should be proud of their effort today.
Mrs Hood is tremendously proud of all the time, effort and patience all the girls have put in and hope their love of sport continues at secondary school.
