Both children and adults have really enjoyed learning about different cultures.
Culture week has been a fantastic success. We began the week with the Irie Steelpan Workshop, in which all the children danced to carnival music and also had the opportunity to play the steel pans.
Following that tasted a range of foods from different countries. This was only made possible by the hard work of some of our parents who prepared foods from India, Pakistan, Somalia, Algeria and the Caribbean.
During the week we focused on clothing from around the world and we saw some beautiful saris from India and beautifully hand stitched waistcoats from Algeria.
Later in the week children had the opportunity to create pieces of art work inspired by artists from around the world.
We ended the week with a fantastic Diwali celebration. Children learned about Rama and Sita and why Diwali is called the Festival of Light.
