Exceptionally able – English

‘Young Writers’ and Cippenham School are working together to inspire pupils to get creative; we have had some excellent previous responses to these competitions and some of our children have even been selected to become published authors as a result of their hard work! Let’s keep our creative juices flowing as we enter one of their new competitions: ‘Spooky Sagas’ and maybe your child will be the next published author from Cippenham School.

It is easy to take part: there will be an entry form coming home with your child, with all the information you may require, and a space to complete their poem. Please make sure you fill in all the information requested in the boxes provided and send it back into school to be posted to the judges.

If you need any further details, support or even a short introductory video clip to the competition then please take a look at the website:

The competition closes on Friday 21st December so get your entries in quickly, so that we can post them off for judging!

We can’t wait to read your children’s work!

Some of our Year 6 children have been using their own learning to plan and deliver a reading skills session for a Year 3 class.

Lexie in Year 3 has completed 3 of the exceptionally able reading challenges! She has presented her work beautifully in a folder as evidence and told Mrs Roberts all about what she has been doing when she came to collect her prize. Well done Lexie!

We went to St. George’s School in Windsor for an able and talented writers day with Brian Moses. We played lots of creative games and wrote various poems throughout the day. Brian was extremely impressed with our children and proud of their achievements; he even published one of our children’s poems on his blog here
